Güreşmania: Amerikan Güreşi

Güreşmania, Türkiye'de bir ilke daha imza attı. İlk defa bir Türk ve Türkçe bir site, güreş tarihinin önemli isimlerinden biriyle bir röportaj yapmayı başardı. Benim için şahsen bu olay ilk olmasının yanı sıra çok sevdiğim ve saydığım bir güreşçiyle gerçekleştiği icin çok önemli.

Question 1: The name HTM and the Intercontinental Title seem to go hand in hand. But if you had a chance to do things over again, would you have preferred to have been a WWF wrestler with a few brief Heavyweight Championship reigns instead of being remembered for holding the IC Title for a record period of time?

HTM: I would have preferred the Heavyweight Title. Or just a six months run against Hogan. I say that because the big belt makes you 10x's as much money as anything else and working against Hogan you could make 10-15 thousand dollars per match!

Soru 1: "Honky Tonk Man" adı ve Intercontinental Title adeta el ele gitmekte. Ama eğer bazı şeyleri baştan yapma fırsatın olsaydı, sırf IC Kemerini rekor süre elinde tutan bir isim olmaktansa bir kaç kısa Heavyweight şampiyonluğu yaşamış bir WWF ismi olmak ister miydin?

Cevap: Heavyweight Kemeri tercih ederdim. Ya da en azından Hogan ile altı ay sürecek bir çekişmeyi. Böyle diyorum çünkü büyük kemeri tutunca 10 misli para kazanıyorsun ve Hogan ile bir çekişmeye girince maç başına 10-15 bin dolar kazanabiliyorsun!

Question 2: After holding the IC Title for as long as you did, how hard was letting go of it, especially to a newcomer like Ultimate Warrior and in a very short match? If you had a choice as to who you should have dropped the title to at that time, who would you have favored?

HTM: It was not difficult to drop the title. I could have kept it a while longer and still sold tickets to see me lose, but the office wanted to make the switch in order to prepare Warrior for the Hogan belt. It did not matter who I lost it to. That has never been an issue for me.

Soru 2: IC kemerini bu kadar elde tuttuktan sonra onu bırakmak ne kadar zor geldi? Özellikle de yeni gelen bir isim olan Ultimate Warrior'a kısa bir maçta? Eğer kemeri bırakacağın ismi seçebilseydin kime bırakmak isterdin?

Cevap 2: Kemeri bırakmak zor değildi. Kemeri bir süre daha tutabilir ve benim kemeri kaybetmemi bekleyen insanlara bilet satmaya devam edebilirdik, ama yönetim Warrior'ı Hogan'ın kemerine hazırlamak için bu değişimin yapılmasını istedi. Kemeri kime kaybetmem önemli değil. Ben bunu hiç bir zaman kafaya takmadım.

Question 3: The HTM character was quite unique in the sense that you were a heel, but (in character) you believed that the fans supported you. How did this unique idea develop and how much were you able to incorporate your own wants into the character?

HTM: I did it all except the " thank you very much, you are a beautiful audience" comment. Jesse Ventura told me to do that and it worked very well. I have to say "thanks" to Jesse.

Soru 3: HTM karakteri oldukça benzersiz bir karakterdi çünkü "kötü adam" olmana rağmen hep (karakter dahilinde) taraftarların seni desteklediğini düşünüyordun. Bu fikir nasıl gelişti ve kendi isteklerini ne kadar yansıtabildin?

Cevap 3: Hepsi benim fikrimdi ancak "çok sağolun, mükemmel bir seyircisiniz" sözlerini bana Jesse Ventura yapmamı önerdi ve bu da oldukça başarılı oldu. Bundan dolayı Jesse'ye "teşekkürler" diyorum.

Question 4: You have voiced in the past that you are not happy with current WWE programming. Where, when, and how did the WWE go wrong in your view? Could it ever be changed after this point for the better?

HTM: It went down hill from the beer drinking cursing of Austin and then the DX stuff was non-sense along with Chyna winning the IC belt. Change will take some time to happen. I think there is too many ladies half naked on TV too much. Bad guy against a good guy is the only way to make the change.

Soru 4: Geçmişte, WWE'nin bugünku programlarından memnun olmadığını belirttin. Sence işler WWE'de nerede, ne zaman ve nasıl yanlış gitti? Bu noktadan sonra işler iyiye gidebilir mi?

Cevap 4: Bira içen ve küfür eden Austin'la işler yokuş aşağı gitmeye başladı, sonra da DX saçmalığı ve Chyna'nın IC kemerini kazanması da vardı. Değişim için zaman gerekli. Bence fazla yarı çıplak bayan var programlarda. Değişim için tekrar "iyi adam" ve "kötü adam" çekişmesi tek yol.

Question 5: What is your opinion on the WWE Hall of Fame? Do you expect to be inducted and would you accept it? Were you happy when names like Jimmy Hart got inducted?

HTM: That Hall of Fame is a sham! It is just a way for WWE to make extra money on the Mania weekend. To me it means nothing and the people they induct are just kissing up to Vinnie Mack! Orndorff said it best when he said he got a good meal, a payday, and a cheap plaque!!!

Soru 5: WWE Hall of Fame hakkındaki düşüncelerin ne? Hall of Fame'e girmeyi bekliyor musun ve kabül eder misin? Jimmy Hart gibi isimler girince sevindin mi?

Cevap 5: O Hall of Fame tam bir palavra! Bu sadece WWE'nin Wrestlemania haftasonunda fazladan para kazanması için bir yol. Benim için hiç bir anlamı yok ve buna dahil olan insanlar sadece Vinnie Mack'e yalakalık yapıyorlar! Ordorff bununla ilgili en güzelini söyledi: Hall of Fame'den aldığı iyi bir yemek, bir miktar para ve ucuz bir plaket!!!
